That means sensible warm-ups and cool-down, before and after a match or a soccer training session of any kind. Soccer is a demanding physical game. So providing encouragement and instruction and making sure your players do adequate physical preparation is one of the most important responsibilities in soccer coaching. The warm up is a process to increase awareness, improve co-ordination, improve elasticity and contractibility of muscles, and increase the efficiency of the respiratory and cardiovascular systems. Soccer training and blood flow to muscles In a body at rest, the blood flow to the muscles is comparatively low, and the majority of the small blood vessels (capillaries) supplying them are closed. When soccer training or playing begins, the blood flow in the exercising muscles increases markedly, as the capillaries open. At rest, 15-20% of the blood flow supplies muscles, while after 10-12 minutes of all-round exercise, the percentage of blood flow supplying the muscl …

Before you get the details of the best warm-up, let me first share a story. A team I consult with had a weekend tournament, with games scheduled on Saturday and Sunday at 8 am. During the Saturday game, the team got behind 2-0 within the first 15 minutes before playing to an even draw the remainder of the game. The coach knew the players were sluggish and were not properly prepared to play early on. The next day’s early morning game was different. The team reported to the field early to perform a long thorough warm-up. The result from this strategy was an early 2-0 lead within the first 5 minutes while playing to an even draw the remaining time. The important take away point from this story is how the performed as a result of their warm-ups. The first game warm-up was done by the players, who were very social. The did a light jog and some static stretching and followed with some more dynamic stretching before the game. None of the players had even broken a sweat! The second game was m …

But the point is this: Usually the guy who knows the most does the best. So you have two choices, start poring over statistics, match-ups and the latest injury reports or learn to play smarter. After all, you have work, family and other concerns that take enough of your time. So learn to do better at fantasy football and spend less time doing it. Find a source of information you can trust. There are literally hundreds of websites out there that have information you can look at in regards to fantasy football. There are giants sites and smaller sites. The giant sites are geared for the average player and are fairly generic. Smaller sites tend to be more specialized for the type or style of play you want. The important thing is to find two sites you like and trust. Then compare the two. If you start looking at 5 or 10 sites, you will become confused with all the conflicting information. Get quality draft cheatsheets and have a plan when drafting It’s pretty simple. Leagues are won or los …

I know when I first started coaching I just used the same practice drills and approach I had used as a youth football player 25 years prior. We did all the things I had suffered through, monkey rolls, hills, crab drills, grass drills, firemens carrys, butt rolls, laps, pushup, sit-ups, squat thrusts, gassers, line drills, etc etc We were a team that was never going to be out-conditioned we were going to win that 4th quarter, blah blah bah. Why We Changed That all changed about 10 seasons ago after I had the pleasure of coaching with a former High School coach, Jay Smith that had coached at Canyon Springs High School in California. His teams had won two USA Today National Championships. This coach did things significantly different than most of us had been used to, no grass drills, no monkey rolls, no crab drills, no gassers, if it wasn’t football related he didn’t do it. This coach took a 2-8 team and turned them into a 10-0 team in one season in the most competitive division in the l …

Warm Ups for Soccer: A Dynamic Approach Warm Ups for Soccer: A Dynamic Approach In this long overdue book, Critchell addresses the issue of stretching and warm up practices for soccer. The main focus of the book is to discourage the use of static stretching and instead offer a variety of dynamic exercises which more closely resemble the movements made in the game, giving the players the preparation they need either pre-game or pre-practice.
    Customer Review: Good informattion
I like the concepts and philosophies in this book. It has a nice progression as well.

It is a little dry … but it is soccer warm ups … how exciting can it be.
