Since teamwork is such a vital part of soccer success there is going to be no room for showboating out on the field; one single person is not going to be guaranteed to be able to take the ball into the goal at any given point in time. You are going to have to be able to work with your teammates. You are probably sitting there thinking, “What’s so hard about kicking a ball to someone else?” The difficulty with proper passing is not getting it to the other person, it’s maintaining control of the ball so that it goes precisely where you want it to go. Picture this: You are standing on the field, you have control of the ball and you are headed for your goal. The next thing you know you are rushed by four members of the opposing team. You need to get rid of the ball and you need to do it quickly; however, you can barely make out the other players on your team. You hear a shout, and a quick glance to the diagonal off of your shoulder reveals one of your own open and ready to receive the pas …

These youth qb drills will help improve mobility, ball security and their response to various situations that come up in the course of a game. Drill #1. Globetrotter This is an excellent drill for ball security. Quarterbacks work the football in a circular motion around their head, under their arms, around their waist, around their knees, around each knee, weaving through their legs and finally “playing catch” between their legs. The coach shout commands of which body part the ball revolves around–usually starting with the head and working downwards. Coaches also shout the command “reverse” which changes the direction the ball is rotating. This should be done numerous times. The drill concludes with five ‘drops’–the quarterback dropping the ball and then grabbing it. This is done with five drops with the power hand and five drops with the off- hand. Drill #2. Toss sweep and option drill Set up a line of quarterbacks holding footballs with the coach in the “Running/Pitch Back” positi …

I couldn’t be happier about it, but since then I have been in continual search of ways to keep myself occupied now that I don’t have to drive anyone to sports practice, shout to turn down that damn loud music, or just generally keep an eye on the antics of two teenage boys. Ironically after all that damn loud music, I missed the noise ad ruckus, and having all my kid’s friends over at the house hanging out. The answer was obvious: it was time to start hanging out with my own friends again! I was finally free to host parties on my on terms again. So I got busy. Years ago I caved into the persistent requests of two certain people and got satellite TV, but I was still watching it on a small, ancient set. I hit the all the electronics stores in the area and spent hours online before selecting a stunning, 42-inch Plasma HD flat screen TV. Have you ever seen the movie A Christmas Story, where the little boy wants a BB gun for Christmas? He writes an essay and when he looks back over what he …

The advantage is to those who may not like football is it gives you a chance of turning you back on the game and get paid to do it. The pay when I did the job was crap! I worked out that after travelling time and costs and the duration spent on task I ended up earning something like 50p an hour! Needless to say I gave it up after about a year and a half, as it just didn’t pay enough. The rates of pay have gone up since and if you live close to the ground you time and travel overheads will be reduced. Everyone has a local football team, the best way to get the job is to know someone who is already a steward, they can recommend you and you are almost certain to be in with a good shout. There is always going to be a turn over of staff in this field of work so it is just a matter of time before a vacancy comes up but it is not usually advertised. Like I said most comes from referring, almost like keeping it in the family. One other point is that once in employment and you prove your worth …
