For this reason, coaches like this drill for its focus on speed and accuracy. In order to execute the drill you will need a place with five dots, either marked on the grass or on a mat, forming an x shape much like the dots for the number five side of dice. The player will start by placing a foot on the back two dots and then jumps together to the middle dot and then out separating his legs to the outer dots, much like you would see in hop scotch. The second phase is having the player touch each of the dots with only one foot, and then switch to the other foot. Then continue around the dots with both legs together. The last step is the same as the first hop scotch method but this time when the player reaches the other side they will turn around on the two dots. Because this drill is intended for accuracy and speed, it is recommended that players start out slow and deliberate and then speed up to their maximum time. Playbook Practicing Every football team will have certain plays. It wi …

One is because they love the sport and dream of playing for the National Football League someday. Others find it as a tool to enhance their self-esteem. While there are those, who want to keep the family pride alive. Whatever reason you have, remember that it is not easy. Trying out for the football team is not a wall in the park. There is more to it than training hard as well. The challenge does not end after you make the team. You have to be careful while being aggressive. In addition to that, you have to focus on important things too. Getting Started It is different when you are one of the audiences, cheering for a team. You are not wearing the NFL helmet to protect your head during the tackle. You wear it in support of the team you are rooting for. If you want to be part of the team, make sure you wear the right gear for the team. Unlike basketball, you wear more than just the uniforms, socks, and appropriate shoes. They lost for the same reason they tried to blow the game against Stanford. Here is my evaluation of the games. The first thing that went wrong started against Stanford when Notre Dame had a 3 touchdown lead. This was in the third quarter and instead of putting up a couple more touchdowns and closing the game out they decided to become a shell of an offense and be conservative. They also became conservative on Defense allowing Stanford to come back and only lose by a touchdown. Instead they should have kept being aggressive and scoring points. One more touchdown would have closed it out for good. Also, it did not help that a highly talented high school kicker recruited by Notre Dame missed two field goals in the game and was 1 for 7 at the end of the game. Now against North Carolina it was a lot of the same, but still a bit different. Clausen made a huge mistake, but the coach should have seen that this would happen and called a different play. Notre Dame was up 17 to 9 at the beginni …

Sometimes it happens in the school playground where we like the colour of a shirt (although this reason totally baffles me). Other times it is because we like to support the underdog. For me the choice of football team to support was easy. I was born in Davyhulme, grew up in Swinton, now part of Salford near Manchester, and went to a school where 90% of the boys were Manchester United fans. I know this will dispel the popular myth that people in Manchester don’t support United but who cares. As Mancunians we know the truth. I’ve been in life threatening situations, I’ve been carried away with immense emotion and I’ve screamed my lungs out so hard that my voice was left to the football God’s for days before slowly and painfully crawling its’ way back. I’ve witnessed decades where rivals have gloated over success while we continued to flatter to deceive. I’ve laughed, I’ve cried and I’ve fallen out with friends and family alike. Whatever the reason that you support your team; there is n …

Every team has discipline problems from time to time. Now the Steelers can go on like nothing happened. Ray Anderson and the Steelers now understand the fines the NFL gave to Hines Ward in the past weeks. During the past two weeks, four Steelers players were fined a total of $50,000. That’s including $15,000 in fines to Ward for two plays that weren’t penalized on the field. That doesn’t make sense to me. If there wasn’t a penalty flag thrown for either infraction, then why is the league punishing them with fines? It sounds like they are singling the Steelers out to me. The NFL has given out 139 fines this season. The fines were supposed to improve player safety and conduct and no other reason. “The meeting gave us a chance to get on the same page and, for lack of a better term, clear the air so this club could move on very confident that our interests are aligned with theirs and vice versa,” Anderson said. Ward said the meeting “gave us a better understanding of why the NFL imposes …
