Is the NFL too Hard on Players Celebrations?Posted by: Mr.Football in Football Sites and The Best ArticlesSure, we all love the classy Barry-Sanders-toss-the-ball-to-the-ref sort of thing, but sometimes watching a good ol’ Terrell Owens or Chad Johnson doing their crazy antics is great entertainment and can make football enjoyable to watch. With the NFL’s greedy tentacles stretching every crevice of American society to suck in more and more casual fans, you’d think the NFL would want to enhance entertainment value, rather than reduce it. But alas, refs are now inclined to throw flags for virtually any celebration, especially one done with teammates. Just the other day T.O. was flagged for doing a celebration where he pretended to start a race in the Olympics, no doubt imitating popular track star Usain Bolt. He was subsequently fined 15 yards for “unsportsmanlike conduct”. I ask you, what is so “unsportsmanlike” about that? It’s not like he’s taunting the other team, which he did (ironically against Dallas when he was with San Francisco) by standing on the Dallas star at midfield and spre … Tags: Barry Sanders, Bolt, Casual Fans, Celebrations, Chad Johnson, Crazy Antics, Crevice, Dallas Star, Entertainment Value, Flags, Great Entertainment, Midfield, Nfl Players, No Doubt, Olympics, Spre, Teammates, Tentacles, Terrell Owens, Track Star

Football Tailgating and Meat - Which Came First the Brat Or the Tailgater?Posted by: Mr.Football in Football Sites and The Best ArticlesThough hard to tell, I would dare say that the first recorded tailgate party probably had its occurrence in the early Roman times. Let’s face it, as long as you have athletes that perform heroic acts or defeat in strong competition you are going to have fans. In fact the Romans built great coliseums filled with thronging fans cheering for the chariot races, the gladiators, and the first Olympics. Now it is not hard to believe that humans might act similarly across the ages when placed in similar situations. I imagine that groups of people would gather prior to the games to get a good seat, bet on the outcomes, and talk about the good ol’ days. Hence the first tailgating party was born. Now yes this wasn’t true tailgating as we know it, I mean the Romans couldn’t enjoy a fine array of boom boxes, and 20 inch plasma TV’s, but who’s to say that they didn’t start off some local cook off competitions? Honestly I can see many social activities surrounding the outside of the coliseum. Beijing Olympic Games Football Event PreviewPosted by: Mr.Football in Football Sites and The Best ArticlesThey also have Barcelona’s petite player Lionel Messi in their fold. Messi who already amassed 29 senior caps for Argentina is one of the most deadly strikers in the world at the moment. Barcelona is fighting to keep Messi for upcoming Champions League qualifying matches, but it’s unlikely he’ll be prevented from playing in the Olympics. They also have Sergio Aguero , who was hot in the spainish La Liga last season. Sergio Aguero, 20, has made seven appearances for the senior team and should be alongside Messi at forward. Aguero led Atletico Madrid with 19 goals in Spain’s La Liga last season. Argentina is the favorite in Group A, which includes Australia, Ivory Coast and Serbia. Australia, which won the bronze in 1992, is the only other team in the group that has ever won an Olympic Football Event medal. Argentina should expect tough competition from both Ivory coast and Serbia. Ironically both Ivory and Serbia were in Argentina’s group during the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.
