Football - Coach Get Too Much Credit Or Blame?Posted by: Mr.Football in Football Sites and The Best ArticlesIf you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting! The coaches can only tell them what needs to be done. It’s up to the players to do it. Still, many coaches take the heat for what happens in a game and many of them, especially head coaches, end up losing their jobs. Is this fair? Is it even right? Well, we’re not going to try to answer this question but we are going to present both sides of the argument, pro and con. This argument can actually apply to just about any sport but for the purposes of this article, we’ll confine it to football. There’s no question that a coach is responsible for not only calling the plays that the players will execute during the course of the game, but they are also responsible for seeing that the players stay in shape. This means regular workouts, practices, etc. If a coach sees that a player isn’t putting in the effort, it’s his job to call the player on this and bench him if necessary. But these are all basic things that even the worst coach in pro football should be able to do. If he doesn’t, then he … Tags: Football Coach, Game, Head Coaches, Job, Jobs, Pro Football, Shape, WorkoutsThe ball used in the game is spherical in shape and is not too big neither too small in size. In the 11 players there is also a goal keeper whose job is to defend their side of the team by not allowing the ball to pass through the goal posts. The game rules does not specify any positions of the players else than the goalkeeper. The teams can make their own strategies by positioning the remaining 10 players at any point of the ground boundaries. The ball can only be touched by the feet, the head or sometimes the chest of the body. If the ball touches the hand, it is considered a foul and suitable advantage is given to the opponent team for the foul. The game is won by the team which is able to score the most goals at the end of the time limits. The time limit for the game is divided into two parts for a total of 90 minutes and each of 45 minutes. In between there is a small break for the refreshment and relaxation of players. In one half one, team is awarded the ball in their possessio … Tags: Advantage, Boundaries, Break, Game Rules, Goal Keeper, Goalkeeper, Job, Opponent, Refreshment, Relaxation, Score, Shape, Soccer Ball, Time Limit

Jeb Bush Declines NFL Commissioner Position OfferPosted by: Mr.Football in Football Sites and The Best ArticlesThe National Football League has recently added a most interesting offer. Not only does US president and brother George Bush feel Jeb should run for the Oval Office in 2008, he is being persued by the NFL for the position of NFL Commissioner when the spot comes available in July. The funny thing about this is that Gov Bush feels people are trying to plan what it is that he is going to do once he leaves office, and the NFL commissioner’s job is an uncertainty. He feels that he made a commitment in office and that is the only thing that is on his mind at the present moment. He has thanked Current president George Bush for the vote of confidence, as well as the confidence boost he received from the NFL, yet he is really not interested at this moment. Jeb Bush figures that the NFL will not hold the position until he is finished with his term in office, and rightfully so as the league will of course need a commissioner to deal with all the crazy antics that can happen in professional sport … Tags: Brother George, Crazy Antics, Funny Thing, George Bush, Gov Bush, Jeb Bush, Job, National Football League, Nfl Commissioner, Nfl Football, Oval Office, People, Present Moment, President Bush, President George Bush, Professional Sport, Uncertainty, Vote Of Confidence

How to Be a Football Long SnapperPosted by: Mr.Football in Football Sites and The Best ArticlesEither way the job of the long snapper can impact the game. He must get the ball back quickly and accurately or create dire consequences. The focus of this article will be the basics you need to become a good long snapper. ***Stance*** Foot placement, when you are standing over the ball place your feet shoulder width apart plus six inches. Make sure your feet are pointed straight ahead to ensure the proper balance. As you bend over to grip the ball you may adjust the width of your feet for purposes of comfort. ***Snapping Stance*** Now that you are in your stance you are ready to get into snapping position. You want the ball about one yard in front of you. As you come forward to grip the ball, you want your weight to transfer to the balls of your feet. Bending your knees slightly, you are ready to come forward, bend at the waist extending your arms forward 90 to 95 % to grip the ball. Make sure your back is flat, feet firmly planted and that you are not leaning to far forward. 2008 New Orleans Saints OutlookPosted by: Mr.Football in Football Sites and The Best ArticlesThe team had a rough start, not only facing the Super Bowl Champion Colts in their first game, but eventually losing their next three games. They also lost running back Deuce McAllister who suffered a second ACL tear. At one point last season the team managed to go on a four-game winning streak, but ultimately lost some important games that eliminated them from the playoffs. It was only two years ago that the Saints put in a victorious season, and won a divisional game over the Philadelphia Eagles. What will it take to put the team back on track? Management deduces that head Coach Sean Payton is still doing his job and readying his team for another Cinderella-esque upset. Since 2006, Payton has been the Saints’ head coach, his first assignment after growing from his assistant head coaching position with the Dallas Cowboys. The team has been patient with Payton, as he is the man that elevated the Saints from a 3-13 record in 2005 to a playoff appearance the next year-in fact, the first … Tags: Acl Tear, Champion, Cinderella, Coach Sean Payton, Colts, Dallas Cowboys, Deuce Mcallister, Divisional Game, First Game, Game Winning Streak, Head Coach, Job, New Orleans Saints, Outlook, Philadelphia Eagles, Playoff Appearance, Super Bowl, Three Games, Track Management

Becoming a Better GoalkeeperPosted by: Mr.Football in Football Sites and The Best ArticlesBecause soccer is a low scoring game, if a goal is scored, the goalie must erase it from his mind. As a goalie, you are the only player on the field who can use his hands. Some goalies make their job look easy, they always seem to be in the right position to make the save. Good goalies are able to concentrate and keep focused on the game, that is why they are able to realize where the shot will come from and make the necessary adjustment. As a goalkeeper your stance is 3 to 4 feet in front of the goal line and in the center of the goal posts. Keep your knees slightly bent and move side to side the same way the ball moves, keep yourself positioned between the ball and the goal. It is OK to play aggressively and move toward the ball to cut down the shooters angle. It takes practice to find out how far you can safely come out in order for the shooter not to chip it over your head. As a goalie you have different type of shots to defend against. Each one requires different catching skills. … Tags: Goal Line, Goal Posts, Goalies, Goalkeeper, Job, Knees, Move Side, Necessary Adjustment, Right Position, Shooter, Shooters, Soccer Game

How Football Formations Have EvolvedPosted by: Mr.Football in Football Sites and The Best ArticlesAs soccer has become more popular around the world, there has been an increase in players transferring to clubs in different countries. This also applies to managers and coaching staff. Because of this, there has been a widespread exchange of tactics and ideas. There are many examples of how football formations have evolved and one well known tactical development was the introduction of the sweeper system. For a long time the sweeper position was popular in Italian football. The sweeper was a defender and would play behind a defensive four but in front of the goalkeeper. His job was to mop up any attacks from the opposition that managed to beat the defenders in front of him. This soccer position was often referred to as the last man. In recent years, we have seen the holding role become popular with many managers. This is similar to the sweeper in many ways. This is a defensive midfield position and the player sits just in front of the back four. The primary task is to protect the d … Tags: Football Formations, Football Soccer, Italian Football, Job, Last Man, Long Time, Midfield, Opposition, Sweeper Position

Annual Review of Football Finance Reveals Disturbing NewsPosted by: Mr.Football in Football Sites and The Best ArticlesAs of this writing, we even have the ex-Thai Prime Minister wanting a slice of the action by taking over the reins of Manchester City. Is the Premiership gradually becoming an expensive playground for the super-rich? I fear the answer is yes. And how true can this get, going by the latest annual review of soccer by one of the world s top-four auditors Deloitte & Touche. The Deloitte Annual Review of Football Finance, released on 31 May 2007, revealed that the following startling financial facts: 1) The combined wages of the English Premier League is expected to surpass the 1billion mark for the first time ever since the competition was formally inaugurated in 1992 1993. The wages of the twenty teams rose to 854 million for season 2005 2006 compared to merely 168 million in 2005. Now isn t it wonderful to be a soccer player instead of having a desk-bound job? 2) Wait, the rich pickings gets better for we can expect the first 200,000 a-week player in the EPL to emerge before … Tags: Deloitte Touche, Desk, Disturbing News, English Premier League, Epl, Finance News, Football Finance, Football News, Job, Manchester City, Playground, Premiership, Reins, Rich Pickings, Soccer Player, Soccer World, Thai Prime Minister, Wages

Football Steward - Get Paid Attending Football MatchesPosted by: Mr.Football in Football Sites and The Best ArticlesThe advantage is to those who may not like football is it gives you a chance of turning you back on the game and get paid to do it. The pay when I did the job was crap! I worked out that after travelling time and costs and the duration spent on task I ended up earning something like 50p an hour! Needless to say I gave it up after about a year and a half, as it just didn’t pay enough. The rates of pay have gone up since and if you live close to the ground you time and travel overheads will be reduced. Everyone has a local football team, the best way to get the job is to know someone who is already a steward, they can recommend you and you are almost certain to be in with a good shout. There is always going to be a turn over of staff in this field of work so it is just a matter of time before a vacancy comes up but it is not usually advertised. Like I said most comes from referring, almost like keeping it in the family. One other point is that once in employment and you prove your worth … Tags: Advantage, Duration, Football Team, Game, Job, Matter Of Time, Overheads, Shout, Steward, Vacancy

The Positions on an NFL TeamPosted by: Mr.Football in Football Sites and The Best ArticlesHe runs the show, so to speak. An NFL Quarterback must be able to pass the ball with great accuracy and throw for great distance. Above all, he must be able to make decisions in a hurry and must be able to adjust on the fly. Ideally, an NFL Quarterback is tall enough (say 6′3″ - 6′4″ tall) to see over opposing players in order to pass the ball, and quick enough to get away from their pass rush. Running Backs 20 - 49 - As the name implies, a Running Back generally runs with the ball. He also catches passes from the Quarterback, and must be able to block opposing players. Running Backs line up behind the Quarterback. Linemen 50 - 79 - They consist of a Center, a Left Guard, Right Guard, Left Tackle and Right Tackle. Linemen line up along the line of scrimmage (where the ball is at the start of the play); they are the biggest players on Offense; NFL Linemen usually weigh in at around 300 lbs or more. A Lineman’s job is to block opposing players, keeping them away from their Quarterback a … Tags: Accuracy, Decisions, Fly, Great Distance, Hurry, Job, Line Of Scrimmage, Lineman, Nfl Quarterback, Nfl Team, Running Back, Running Backs, Rush
