The ball used in the game is spherical in shape and is not too big neither too small in size. In the 11 players there is also a goal keeper whose job is to defend their side of the team by not allowing the ball to pass through the goal posts. The game rules does not specify any positions of the players else than the goalkeeper. The teams can make their own strategies by positioning the remaining 10 players at any point of the ground boundaries. The ball can only be touched by the feet, the head or sometimes the chest of the body. If the ball touches the hand, it is considered a foul and suitable advantage is given to the opponent team for the foul. The game is won by the team which is able to score the most goals at the end of the time limits. This will help you increase your knowledge of soccer beyond your expectations and you’ll be an expert on this aspect of the beautiful game! In order to understand all the soccer formations I’ll be going through, I’ll just describe what is meant by the series of numbers you find (the name of a formation). The goalkeeper is assumed, so the first number in a formation’s name is the number of defenders, then comes the number of midfielders and then comes the number of strikers. (If the defense or midfield are arranged strangely then you will get even more numbers.) It is best to go through starting with one of the oldest of the soccer formations: the 2-3-5. This was used by England and Scotland in the 1880s! Nowadays, leaving just two defenders in front of the goalie would not be a wise move and it is for this reason that it is not used today. The 3-2-2-3 formation, created by Arsenal and famous all over the world from 1925, was a perfect development of this vulnerable formation and gave …

It is a game that has a world wide orientation and which has served a great purpose in bringing people from across the world together. Europeans and south Americans are the most addicted cliche of people when t comes to this game. The aim of this game is to have a shot by having the ball go past the goal keeper into the net. The aim of the goalkeeper is to prevent such scores from the opposing team. Remember that the goal reaches the goal posts with such a great force tat is enough to break the tiny bones that are found in the fingers. For this reason, it is important that the goalie have a protective garment for the hands and this is where football gloves come in. The one major purpose of the football gloves is to provide the goalie with a firm grip of the ball, otherwise the thought of reaching out for the ball with bear hands is psychologically demoralizing. This is because the force is strong enough to cause abrasions and cuts to the hands of the goalie. The glove is specially des …

Because soccer is a low scoring game, if a goal is scored, the goalie must erase it from his mind. As a goalie, you are the only player on the field who can use his hands. Some goalies make their job look easy, they always seem to be in the right position to make the save. Good goalies are able to concentrate and keep focused on the game, that is why they are able to realize where the shot will come from and make the necessary adjustment. As a goalkeeper your stance is 3 to 4 feet in front of the goal line and in the center of the goal posts. Keep your knees slightly bent and move side to side the same way the ball moves, keep yourself positioned between the ball and the goal. It is OK to play aggressively and move toward the ball to cut down the shooters angle. It takes practice to find out how far you can safely come out in order for the shooter not to chip it over your head. As a goalie you have different type of shots to defend against. Each one requires different catching skills. …

The question then is who is a striker? And what are the qualities of a good striker? A striker is a football player whose responsibility is to score goals. This simply means that if a striker cannot score goals then he should not be in the team in the first place. Now, let’s look at the qualities of a good striker or forward. A good striker should have a clear vision just like a good goalkeeper. A good striker should be able to convert any chance to a goal. But he cannot just take his chances if he cannot see very well. A good striker should have speed. This is where counter attack comes into play. If the strikers in a team lack speed then counter attacks become useless. If you take a look at Spanish, Argentine and Brazilian national teams you will appreciate the value of speed to any striker. Spanish, Argentine and Brazilian teams are so good at counter attacks simply because they have strikers that can move with the ball so fast. A good striker should have what I call “goal sense”. …
