Manchester United Pile on the PressurePosted by: Mr.Football in Football Sites and The Best ArticlesIn possibly the penultimate season of Sir Alex Fergerson managerial career, he will look to equal Liverpool’s record in the English Top Football decision. With 17 league championships Man U are only 1 behind current League leaders Liverpool who have 18. This is going to be the most challenging season for Manchester United. With Liverpool intent on dropping points to Stoke, Fulham and Tottenham they will be smarting from losing their poll position they have worked so hard to obtain. Chelsea look like a spent force, unless there is a dramatic turnaround in the fortunes of big Phil at Stamford Bridge, he is next on my firing list after Tony Adams and Mark Hughes. The way Chelsea turned out in the second half proved to be their undoing. Instead of keeping it tight, he brought on the sulk - Anelka. Yes, they went down to a sloppy goal from a corner, but Phil has to take the share in the blame for the way Man U cut them open 2 more times after the break. Jose said it well in a interview. “I … Tags: Anelka, Break, Chelsea, Dramatic Turnaround, English Football, Fortunes, Fulham, League Championships, League Leaders, Liverpool, Managerial Career, Manchester United, Mark Hughes, Poll Position, Second Half, Sir Alex, Stamford Bridge, Tight, Undoing

Football Grounds - All Seater StadiumsPosted by: Mr.Football in Football Sites and The Best ArticlesOne measure was the introduction of all seater stadiums replacing the standing areas that were known as terraces. Supporters will sing songs and chants as loudly as they can in an attempt to encourage their team and spur them on to better performance and results. The main criticism regarding the introduction of all seater stadiums are the effect they have on the atmosphere inside the ground. The football match was used as a meeting place for many groups of supporters. When fans stood on the terraces they were free to stand where they liked and could move around to different parts of the ground. This is no longer possible with the advent of all seater stadiums and means that you have to sit in the relevant seat number which is displayed on y … Tags: Advent, Atmosphere, Chants, English Football, Football Grounds, Football Match, Football Stadiums, Meeting Place, Seat Number, Terraces

Why England Will Never Win Another Football TrophyPosted by: Mr.Football in Football Sites and The Best ArticlesAnd that’s where the problem lies. Not in the agonizing over the game England could so easily have won, but in England’s reliance on all varieties of imports. Many English football supporters make the mistake of thinking the rude good health of the English Premiership in some way proves the rude good health of English football in general. After all, England boasts the world’s richest football league, and the richest club in the world in the form of Arsenal. However the strength of the English premier league is probably the main source of the rot in English football. To prove this point all we need to do is turn back the clocks to the 1960s and investigate the state of English club football. During the 1960s English clubs began participating regularly in an array of new European club competitions. England’s top clubs achieved excellent results in Europe, with West Ham United claiming the Cup Winners Cup whilst Arsenal, Leeds United and Newcastle United lifted the Inter Cities Fairs Cup … Tags: 1960s, Clocks, Club Football, Cup Winners Cup, English Clubs, English Football, English Premier League, English Premiership, European Club Competitions, Fairs Cup, Football League, Football Supporters, Football Trophy, Good Health, Leeds United, Main Source, Newcastle United, Reliance, Top Clubs, West Ham United |
