That means tailgating, pick up games and flag football. To make sure your team stands apart from the rest of the chuck and duck teams out there, you need to start with an adult flag football playbook. The most important rule when developing your adult flag football playbook is to keep things simple. The last thing you need is a group of confused teammates. Begin by drawing three or four pass routes for your receivers: one long route, some middle routes, and a short route. Flag football is all about the passing game but running the football is vital in keeping the defense guessing. Draw about two plays to each side of the field. Keep at least one draw play in your book for aggressive pass rushers. Now that you’ve developed some passing routes and a few running plays it’s time to put them together. Perhaps this is why it is the most popular sport of the nation. In recent years, there have been many equipment innovations making football gear safer for many players. Although this is true, football is still a sport where injuries can and do happen. Parents such as yourself can help reduce potential injuries by learning some of the simple facts about football gears and on-field plays. Whether you are planning to buy used gears or NFL football helmets for kids, here are a few guidelines every parent should reinforce with their child before they step out onto the field: It is important to ensure that the equipment your child is using is up to date and have passed all the proper equipment inspections. These gears should be inspected annually and routine maintenance done accordingly. One of vital football equipment probably is the football helmet. It should fit snugly on the head but is still comfortable enough for the player. Recent models are designed to be lighter and stronger. …

For those of you that are unaware, Favre has decided his retirement was premature and at age 38 he believes he can still play and contribute to his team. I would agree, even though there be snow on the roof, there is still fire in the belly. Mr. Favre has plenty to offer a team and should be allowed to play. However as in the Joe Montana/Steve Young San Francisco 49ers saga of the 1990’s, the business side of the sport has entered into the unfolding drama. Certainly different circumstances but the same drama. For those of you that are too young to recall the 49r dilemma, Joe Montana had a severe injury that took him out of football for one season. His back up Steve Young took the helm and had a successful year as the starter. Neither Joe or Steve had done anything to lose the starters job. both wanted it and rightfully so. As in the current situation, Brett’s back up, Aaron Rodgers is the younger protege, the future, as Steve Young was to Joe Montana. Constant bickering took place in …

The objective of the game is to score points by getting the ball into the opposing team’s court, or end zone. The team who does this gets a touchdown, which is worth 6 points. After a touchdown, the team is afforded the chance to kick the ball through the goal posts to get an extra point. However, they also have the option of trying to get the ball into the opponent’s end zone again by using a running or passing play instead of kicking the ball. If this works, they get two more points instead of just one. This option is much harder, of course. Each team has 11 players on the field, usually comprised of a quarter back (considered the team leader), two additional players positioned behind the quarterback (known as the fullback and the tailback), five players in front of the quarter back (making up the offensive line), and three receivers on either side of the offensive line (called tight end, split end, and flanker). The player in the center position of the linemen is the center. The de …
