College Football - Worst to First - Turning Around a Losing ProgramPosted by: Mr.Football in Football Sites and The Best ArticlesIf you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting! Scheduling Early pioneers of creative scheduling used to rely on sportswriters to simply pick their team as a contender for the National Championship. In years past, the Cornish Game Huskers of Nebraska routinely scheduled unbelievably weak opponents to open their season. They would fill Memorial Stadium in Lincoln with throngs of beer basted, red nosed (and clad) fans to watch the Huskers thrash teams that could hardly assemble eleven people for the kick off. The advent of the BCS scoring system changed all that. Instead of arranging weekly massacres of poor opponents in September, the Big and Red administration had to try and bring in some quality opponents such as Southern Cal and Virginia Tech. It is bad enough that Nebraska has to face serious competition in Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas during their conference schedule. Now, that danged BCS has made the Big and Red Fans (BaRFs), actually see some real games during the harvest season. The University of Michigan - another of the ha … Tags: Advent, Bcs Scoring System, College Football, Contender, Cornish, Early Pioneers, Harvest Season, Huskers, Lincoln, Massacres, Missouri Oklahoma, National Championship, Nebraska, Quality Opponents, Real Games, Southern Cal, Sportswriters, Throngs, University Of Michigan, Virginia Tech

College Football Week 4 AnalysisPosted by: Mr.Football in Football Sites and The Best ArticlesEach year the best teams in the country have a solid rush offense and an outstanding rush defense. Saturday, four teams stood out to me as being able to run the ball and stop the run: Penn State, Alabama, Georgia and Georgia Tech. Penn State played lowly Temple who has notoriously found a way to consistently lose at least ten games a year. Even though Temple is tremendously bad, it is still interesting to note that Penn State ran for 303 yards while only giving up 16. It will be intriguing to see if this trend continues into Big 11 play. Alabama went to Fayetteville, Arkansas to play Bobby Petrinos Arkansas Razorbacks. It is obvious that the Razorbacks are very bad this year, but going into a SEC opponents stadium and rushing for 328 yards while only giving up 92 is quite impressive. If Saban can continue this trend, as he did at LSU for years, Alabama will be the SEC West Champs. That being said, I would imagine that the Auburn and LSU defensive lines will have something to say about … Tags: Auburn, Champs, College Football, Games, Georgia Tech, Lsu, Penn State, Rush Defense, Sec Opponents, Sec West, State Alabama

No upgrades to your computer are required, but you may (optionally) get a fast broadband Internet connection for smoother streaming. Who Would Want To Be A Fantasy Football Manager?Posted by: Mr.Football in Football Sites and The Best ArticlesThis can be any type of football but the most popular in the UK is Premier League FF, and in the USA, NFL FF. The game is very easy to play and the variety of systems and sites provide everything you need to get started. It is a 100% social experience with the internet being the main reason why it is so popular today. For those of you who are looking for any opportunity to stretch out the fantasy season as long as possible, take a look at NFL Fantasy Football which is thriving as an NFL fan obsession. The game creates new and powerful networking dynamics by bringing employees from every level of the organization chart together and different departments for five months during the NFL season. I love football and College Football is where my heart lies, but the NFL knows that to keep guys like myself truly interested every week that they need to embrace the game and they’ve certainly done that. Before the NFL season starts, managers/coaches draft their own team, consisting of NFL players … Tags: College Football, Fantasy Football Manager, Fantasy Season, Ff, Five Months, Game, Heart, Networking Dynamics, Nfl Fan, Nfl Fantasy Football, Nfl Football, Nfl Players, Nfl Season, Obsession, Opportunity, Organization Chart, Premier League, Social Experience

BCS National Championship Game - Florida vs OklahomaPosted by: Mr.Football in Football Sites and The Best ArticlesIt was only Stoop’ second year with Sooners and he had already guided them to a National Championship. Urban Meyer spurned Notre Dame to become head coach at Florida in 2005. Just like Stoops, his second year ended with the Gators securing the National Championship. An added amount of intrigue about this BCS title game is the fact that Stoops was the defensive coordinator for Florida before leaving for Oklahoma. Oklahoma got into the title game by beating Missouri 62-21 in the Big 12 conference title game. No one debated who was the better team in that game, but some people wondered whether Texas should have been playing instead of OU because of a late season jump in the BCS rankings. Nevertheless, no one questions Oklahoma’s talent. The Sooners set a modern-day NCAA record, scoring 702 points this season. Quarterback Sam Bradford led this prolific offense throwing for 48 touchdowns, the most in college football this season. And for that, he won the Heisman Trophy(college football’s a … Tags: Bcs Rankings, Big 12 Conference, College Football, Defensive Coordinator, Gators, Head Coach, Heisman Trophy, Intrigue, National Championship Game, Ncaa, Ncaa Record, Notre Dame, People, Sooners, Title Game, Urban Meyer

Understanding College American Football HabitsPosted by: Mr.Football in Football Sites and The Best ArticlesNever catch or try to catch a ball with your body, especially a high ball. Important Tip: never, ever, under any circumstances, for any reason, take your eyes off the ball; even after you have caught it watch the ball until you know that it is safely in your grips. Some receivers fear an oncoming tackle and want to check out the field as soon as possible, those receivers that follow the catch with their eyes are going to catch more and receive more playing time. Points on tackling safely and effectively Learning how to perform a proper tackle is fundamental to the game of football. If executed poorly not only will you not succeed in stopping the offensive team, but you could possibly injure yourself in the process. When you tackle your opponent remember three important steps: First is to cut off your opponent by placing yourself directly in front of them. Plant your cleats in the grass squarely in front and in the middle, bisecting the player in half. At the same time you want to brin … Tags: American Football, Circumstances, Cleats, College American, College Football, Game Of Football, Grass, High Ball, Offensive Team, Opponent, Playing Time, Receivers, Time Points

College Football - Meet the Illinois Fighting Illini - The Most Overrated Team in AP’s Top 25 PollPosted by: Mr.Football in Football Sites and The Best ArticlesLast year Illinois finished at No. 20 in the final AP Poll. All of last year’s fight and hype moved Illinois into this year’s AP Top 25 Poll. The Illini, currently ranked No. 22, have no business being in AP’s Top 25, and will probably figure that out after visiting No. 16 Penn State at Happy Valley next weekend (9-27-08). They have a bye this weekend and will need all of the extra time to get ready to face Jo Pa’s (Joe Paterno’s) Nittany Lions. Teams that did well last year generally get a free pass into the AP Top 25 the following year. Whether they maintain the ranking is another question. In Illinois’ case, while they are currently No. 22 in the AP Poll, the Sagarin football ratings puts them at No. 66, where they belong. The AP Top 25 Poll is determined each week by 64 influential sportswriters around the country. It can be argued that it is a popularity poll. Jeff Sagarin’s NCAA Football Ratings uses a scientific, statistical analysis to determine the pecking order for the 245 t … Tags: Ap Top 25, Ap Top 25 Poll, College Football, Extra Time, Fighting Illini, Final Ap Poll, Happy Valley, Illinois Case, Jeff Sagarin, Joe Paterno, Ncaa Football, Nittany Lions, Pecking Order, Penn State, Popularity Poll, S Joe, Sagarin Football Ratings, Sagarin Ratings, Sportswriters, Statistical Analysis
