TCU and the University of Houston will slug it out at Reliant Stadium on the 28th at 8:00 PM. The two teams are former conference rivals from their days together in the old Southwest Conference, but now each has found a new home with TCU joining the Mountain West, and Houston, Conference USA. Of course, the end of college football season not only means bowl games, but also the beginning of that other winter contest - coaching changes. Houston will be helmed in the future by Oklahoma co-offensive coordinator, Kevin Sumlin, but for this game, Cougars assistant Chris Thurmond will assume the role of interim head coach. The Cougars have two outstanding players in running back Anthony Aldridge, and redshirt freshman quarterback Case Keenum. For the season, Aldridge has rushed for 1568 yards and 14 touchdowns, and needs just 190 yards to set a new single season …

Cincinnati Bearcats The Bearcats’ football team has not only played in 10 bowl games; it has a winning record of 6-4 in those bowls, and has won the last three of them. Those trips to the tournament included two national championships for the Cincinnati Bearcats (1961, 1962), and one loss in the championship game (1963). 2. Florida Gators The Gators football team, for which the sports drink Gatorade was named, has won two national championships. During the 1996-1997 season, past Florida QB Steve S …

However, this would be a biased system because if based solely on human votes, teams who are not performing but highly popular may be voted to play year after year. There is always the danger of people voting out of biasness instead of performance. This will hardly keep the general population happy. To address this problem, computers came into the picture. Besides taking the votes of Associate Press writers and coaches into account, the BCS system also uses seven computer ranking methods to come up with a total score. Various factors such as number of losses, number of wins when matched against top teams etc., make up the ranking formulas. The two teams with the lowest total score will be playing in the National title game. However, this system is not without its share of problems. For example, in 2000, both Florida State and Miami lost only one game. When the human votes came in, Miami was voted as the second team, and Florida State came in third. However, to everyone’s surprise, whe …
