The Wildcats started playing football in 1893 during a Thanksgiving Day game against St. Mary’s Academy which they won 18-10. The home stadium of the wildcats is the Bill Snyder Family Stadium in Manhattan, Kansas which has a capacity of 52,200. Bill Snyder was one of the coaches of the KSU. During his time, the Wildcats had 11 seasons won including an eleven consecutive bowl game appearances. Its current coach is Ron Prince. However, he announced in November 2008 that he will no longer coach the Wildcats next season. The teams major rival is the Kansas Jaywalks. KSU’s official mascot is Willie the Wildcat. Their all time record is 452-596-41 (.431). Championships and Important Moments: Kansas State won its first conference football championship in 1934. The New York Times called KSU “an established Middle Western leader” also in 1934. The Kansas State Wildcats competed in 13 bowl games. Texas Bowl Set to Kick Off in HoustonPosted by: Mr.Football in Football Sites and The Best ArticlesTCU and the University of Houston will slug it out at Reliant Stadium on the 28th at 8:00 PM. The two teams are former conference rivals from their days together in the old Southwest Conference, but now each has found a new home with TCU joining the Mountain West, and Houston, Conference USA. Of course, the end of college football season not only means bowl games, but also the beginning of that other winter contest - coaching changes. Houston lost the coach that brought a high-octane, no-huddle offense to the school when Art Briles decided to take over at Baylor. Houston will be helmed in the future by Oklahoma co-offensive coordinator, Kevin Sumlin, but for this game, Cougars assistant Chris Thurmond will assume the role of interim head coach. The Cougars have two outstanding players in running back Anthony Aldridge, and redshirt freshman quarterback Case Keenum.
