The objective of the game is to score points by getting the ball into the opposing team’s court, or end zone. The team who does this gets a touchdown, which is worth 6 points. After a touchdown, the team is afforded the chance to kick the ball through the goal posts to get an extra point. However, they also have the option of trying to get the ball into the opponent’s end zone again by using a running or passing play instead of kicking the ball. If this works, they get two more points instead of just one. This option is much harder, of course. Each team has 11 players on the field, usually comprised of a quarter back (considered the team leader), two additional players positioned behind the quarterback (known as the fullback and the tailback), five players in front of the quarter back (making up the offensive line), and three receivers on either side of the offensive line (called tight end, split end, and flanker).
